Springsteen archive release includes Van Zandt duet on ‘I Don’t Want to Go Home’ (LISTEN HERE)

Bruce Springsteen will release a recording of his July 6, 1981 concert at The Brendan Byrne Arena.

The next release in Bruce Springsteen’s Live Archive Series will be his River Tour concert with The E Street Band at The Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford on July 6, 1981. You can listen below to a duet between Springsteen and Stevie Van Zandt on the Van Zandt-written “I Don’t Want to Go Home” (best known as performed by Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes), which was performed as the show’s first encore.

The music can be streamed or ordered in CD form via nugs.net.

This show was the fourth in a series of six by Springsteen that represented the first concerts at the arena.

The River Tour, of course, was followed by a period of soul-searching that is documented in the upcoming movie “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.”

“What was to follow after the River tour may have been marked by isolation and uncertainty, but on this night Bruce Springsteen knew he had delivered greatness,” writes Erik Flannigan in the album’s liner notes.
