The Super Deluxe Edition of Talking Heads’ “Fear of Music.”
A “Super Deluxe Edition” of Talking Heads’ 1979 album Fear of Music will contain 14 songs recorded at The Capitol Theatre in Passaic on Nov. 17, 1979. The 3-CD, 1-Blu-ray set, also available in 2-LP or 6-LP form, will be released on Nov. 13.
The Super Deluxe Edition will include a new remaster of the original album (including songs such as “Life During Wartime” and “Cities”) as well as a complete show from the Berklee Performance Center in Boston (Aug. 24, 1979), in addition to the complete Capitol Theatre show. Most of the live performances are previously unreleased, though five of the Capitol songs did appear on the band’s 1982 live album The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads.
The package will also include alternate versions of five of the album’s songs, and an unfinished outtake (“Dancing for Money”). The 2-LP set will include these six songs but not the live recordings.
The Super Deluxe Edition CD set and the 6-LP set will come with a 60-page book featuring rare photos and liner notes by Will Hermes.
The Blu-ray includes “new Dolby Atmos, 5.1 surround sound, and high-resolution stereo mixes of the album,” according to a press release, as well as film footage of two songs that aired on the British television show, “Old Grey Whistle Test.” “Life During Wartime,” from “Old Grey Whistle Test,” has been released on YouTube and is embedded here:
