Memorial Day Weekend will see the debut of an ambitious new rock festival on the beach in Atlantic City. The Adjacent Festival is scheduled for May 27-28, with Blink-182, Paramore, Bleachers, Turnstile, Japanese Breakfast, Coheed and Cambria, Jimmy Eat World, The Front Bottoms and others performing.
Early bird tickets, good for both days, go on sale Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.
Forty-five acts are listed on the band’s poster (to the right). Among those joining those listed above are Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Beach Bunny, PUP, Knocked Loose, Midtown, Jeff Rosenstock, Thursday, Motion City Soundtrack and The Happy Fits.
The question, “Adjacent to what?,” comes to mind. Maybe adjacent to the ocean? But judging by the festival’s logo, it would seem that perhaps the word was chosen mainly because it contains the letters “AC” (a common abbreviation for Atlantic City) in it.
Another major music festival — The Bamboozle, which is returning after years of dormancy — is scheduled to take place in Atlantic City, also in May (May 5-7) but at Bader Field rather than the beach. No acts have been announced yet (visit BamboozleFestival.com for updates) but The Bamboozle has a history of impressive bookings, so New Jersey rock fans can look forward to two major events taking place in Atlantic City next year, just a few weeks apart from each other.
