Artie Lange, who pronounced himself “clean and sober” following an extended stay in rehab last year, will perform at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank on Jan. 10. But on Jan. 9, he will be in a considerably more intimate setting, participating in a benefit at Art House Productions in Jersey City.
The show, which begins at 9:30 p.m., is titled “StandUP for Jersey City” and is one of two being presented at Art House Productions to raise money for families of the victims of the anti-semitic Dec. 10 Jersey City shootings at a kosher grocery store and cemetery at which six people (including the two assailants) were killed and several were injured.
Kevin Brennan will also perform. Tickets, priced at $50, are available here.
There will also be a show at 7 p.m., with Josh Wells, Ariel Leaty, Jonas Barnes, James Camacho, Kayt Hester, Meghan Patenaude, Tom Mongelli, Dara Jemmott and Scott Chaplain, plus host Rich Carucci. Tickets, priced at $25, are available here.
Lange’s drug and mental problems led to his departure, in 2010, from “The Howard Stern Show.” Since then, in addition to continue to doing standup comedy, he has had a successful podcast, co-starred in the HBO series “Crashing,” and published the memoirs “Crash and Burn” (2014) and “Wanna Bet?: A Degenerate Gambler’s Guide to Living on the Edge” (2018).
