Shannon Hoon of the band Blind Melon, who died in 1995, filmed himself frequently from 1990 to 1995 on a video camera. This year, “All I Can Say,” a documentary build around that footage will be released.

The film — co-directed by photographer, musician and Asbury Park gallery owner Danny Clinch — will be shown at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, April 25 at noon, followed by a discussion with Clinch, co-directors Colleen Hennessy and Taryn Gould, and original Blind Melon band members. The event will be part of the Asbury Park Music + Film Festival, of which Clinch is a co-chair.

APMFF will also present the current version of Blind Melon, with Clinch’s Tangiers Blues Band, at the Stone Pony, April 25 at 9 p.m. Tickets to both the film and the concert go on sale Feb. 28 at 10:30 a.m., with pre-sales already begun. Click here for the film, here for the concert.

Original Blind Melon members Rogers Stevens (lead guitar), Christopher Thorn (rhythm guitar) and Glen Graham (drums) are joined in the current incarnation of the band by Travis Warren (vocals, guitar) and Nathan Townes (bass).

“Blind Melon has a strong history in Asbury Park and at the Jersey Shore; in fact, the last time I saw Shannon Hoon was at The Tradewinds in Sea Bright,” said Clinch in a press release.

“Danny took our photos on the boardwalk in the early ’90s and some of our best shows have taken place at the Stone Pony,” said Thorn in the same press release. “The last couple of years I’ve had my favorite jams with the Tangiers Blues Band at the Pony and can’t wait to get back on that stage.”
