Cape May Stage to present play about Dr. Ruth in 2024 season

Cape May Stage will present “Becoming Dr. Ruth” — Mark St. Germain’s 2014 play about Karola Ruth Westheimer, who became famous in the ’80s as a sex expert, when she was in her 50s — to kick off its just-announced 2024 season.

Other plays will include “Rita Hayworth — The Heat Is On!,” about the famed actress; and “Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson — Apt. 2B,” reinventing Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson in the present, as Shirley Holmes and Joan Watson.

June 5-30: “Becoming Dr. Ruth,” written by Mark St. Germain, directed by Roy Steinberg
July 6-12: “Rita Hayworth — The Heat Is On!,” written and directed by Carter Inskeep
July 17-Aug. 25: “Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson — Apt. 2B,” written by Kate Hamill, directed by Roy Steinberg
Sept. 11-Oct. 20: “Stones in His Pockets,” written by Marie Jones, directed by Roy Steinberg
Nov. 20-Dec. 29: “The Gift of the Magi,” a modern adaptation of the O. Henry story written by Marisa Smith, directed by Roy Steinberg
