The Asbury Park rock club The Saint has been closed since March, but singer-songwriter Carl Chesna and friends, billed as Carl Chesna & Company, will perform on its stage Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. in a livestream charity holiday concert to benefit Asbury Park Dinner Table and Fulfill.

The former organization supports the hungry in Asbury Park as well as local restaurants struggling because of the pandemic; the latter is the food bank formerly known as the FoodBank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties.

The event will stream live on thesaintnj.com and be available later there, as well as on asburyparkdinnertable.org and fulfillnj.org. There will be no charge to watch, but viewers will be encouraged to donate.

“As a long-time resident and musician of Asbury Park, I am inspired by the willingness of the community to come together and donate their time and money to support all of those in need during this unprecedented era,” said Chesna in a press release. “We know what a difficult time the holidays can be even under ’normal’ circumstances, so we thought it was even more important right now to help raise everyone’s spirits through music and let people know that they are not alone.”

Saint owner Scott Stamper added, in the press release: “It is so important to keep the energy of live music performances going in anyway we can, until we can all safely be together again in person at The Saint, or any live music venue across the country and around the world. I am honored to be able to help raise both awareness and money to address the growing issue of hunger that has impacted so many people and families in and around the Jersey Shore.”

The virtual show is sponsored by Preferred Properties of Allenhurst and Rumson, and private donors.
