Feb. 10 marks the 50th anniversary of Carole King’s critically acclaimed, intimate masterpiece Tapestry, which has continued to enjoy popularity as generations pass the album on to younger listeners. (Click here to read an article in which musicians talk about the album’s influence.)

King’s label, Legacy Recordings, is marking the occasion in a number of ways.

“Out in the Cold,” an outtake from the album that was included on a 1999 CD reissue of it, is being made available as a digital single for the first time. (Listen below.) With her characteristic introspective disclosure of love lost, King pours her heart out to us about infidelity. She warns that when you “open up a new door, you may find the old one’s closed/So be true to a good man” or “you might just get left out in the cold.”

A 1971 “BBC in Concert” performance by King, featuring a guest appearance by James Taylor, has been made available on YouTube. (Watch below.)

The album itself will be reissued on black vinyl, Feb. 12, with its original packaging.

A King Twitter emoji will be available until Feb. 19, accessible using the #Tapestry50 or #CaroleKing hashtags. Fans are also being encouraged to write about their own experiences with Tapestry with the hashtag, #MyTapestryStory.

Also, a new video for the Tapestry song “It’s Too Late” will be released on Feb. 10.
