Count Basie Center for the Arts offers free tickets to furloughed workers

The Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank will present “The Simon & Garfunkel Story,” Jan. 30.

With the government shutdown continuing, and not likely to end soon, The Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank is offering a limited number of free tickets to eight upcoming shows. Tickets are available at the theater’s box office on a first-come, first-served basis; just bring proof of federal employment.

Here are the shows:

Jan. 30, 8 p.m.: “The Simon and Garfunkel Story”
Feb. 1, 7:30 p.m.: “Swan Lake,” presented by The National Ballet Theatre of Odessa
Feb. 8, 8 p.m.: “An Evening with the Celebrity Housewives” (Teresa Giudice, Dorinda Medley, Kelly Dodd)
Feb. 12, 7 p.m.: Disney’s DCappella
Feb. 13, 8 p.m.: Black Violin
Feb. 15, 8 p.m.: Bobby Collins
Feb. 17, 1 and 4 p.m.: “Erth’s Prehistoric Aquarium Adventure: The Mystery of the Dinosaurs of the Deep”

“We hope the families of those affected will enjoy an uplifting performance at the historic Basie,” the theater said in a press release.
