Not surprisingly, given the Asbury Park location of the second annual Sea.Hear.Now festival, which took place Sept. 21 and 22, there were some covers of Bruce Springsteen songs.
And not surprisingly, given the recent death of Ric Ocasek, The Cars were covered as well.
And there were also covers of songs by Prince and Peter Gabriel, among others.
Here is a video roundup with 10 clips from the festival, which brought an estimated 35,000 people per day to Asbury Park.
The Boston-based Dropkick Murphys paid tribute to Ocasek, who died on Sept. 15, and his Boston-based band The Cars with an impressively ferocious version of “Just What I Needed.”
Here are The Struts … well, strutting around to Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark.”
Here is The Lumineers’ medley of Springsteen’s “Thunder Road” and their own “Big Parade.”
One more Springsteen cover: “Born to Run,” by the Marcus King Band.
Here is Jade Bird performing “I’ve Been Everywhere,” the country standard that has been recorded by Hank Snow, Johnny Cash and many others.
Here is Low Cut Connie, performing Prince’s “Controversy.”
Here is Gaten Matarazzo’s Work in Progress covering Pearl Jam’s “Porch,” with the help of Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready.
Here is the Dave Matthews Band, performing Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer.”
And here is Dispatch doing “In the Air Tonight,” by Gabriel’s old Genesis bandmate, Phil Collins
Finally, here is Cat Power, performing Frank Ocean’s “Bad Religion.”
