Ricky “Shorty Long” Tisch, who fronts the band The Jersey Horns, is the subject of a new documentary.

Formed in 2002, Shorty Long & the Jersey Horns have become a mainstay of the Shore rock circuit with their brand of upbeat party music, and have performed up and down the East Coast, as well. A 29-minute documentary about them, “To Make a Long Story Short: Shorty Long and the Jersey Horns,” will be shown at the fall edition of the New Jersey Film Festival, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. at Voorhees Hall at Rutgers University in New Brunswick.

You can watch the trailer, below.

This is a rock ‘n’ roll story like no other. The band’s frontman, Ricky “Shorty Long” Tisch, is a compelling singer and accomplished piano player who happens to be about two feet tall. Born with osteogenesis imperfecta, also known as brittle bone disease, he has been confined to a wheelchair his whole life.

“I don’t know how we got where we are, exactly; some of it’s just magical to me,” Tisch says, with a laugh, in the documentary.

The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session with director Sal DelGiudice of Manahawkin. For information, visit njfilmfest.com.
