Foreigner ‘Then & Now’ show in Atlantic City will go on without ailing Lou Gramm

Suffering from a severe respiratory infection, dehydration and fatigue, Lou Gramm was hospitalized last week and will be unable to appear at Foreigner’s “Double Vision: Then & Now” show scheduled for Oct. 4 at the Etess Arena at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.

However, the show will go on without him.

“My doctor insists if I pushed myself to perform, I would be in big trouble,” said Gramm in a press release. “So, doctor’s orders, I ride the bench. Rock on!”

Gramm, Foreigner’s golden-throated frontman in its ’70s and ’80s heyday, has not been a full-time band member since 2003. The “Double Vision: Then & Now” show was conceived to celebrate the band’s 1978 Double Vision album (featuring the hits “Hot Blooded” and “Blue Morning, Blue Day,” in addition to the title track), with both current band members and surviving original members.

Original guitarist Mick Jones leads the current version of the group, whose other members include Kelly Hansen (lead vocals), Tom Gimbel (rhythm guitar, sax, vocals), Jeff Pilson (bass, vocals), Michael Bluestein (keyboards), Bruce Watson (guitar) and Chris Frazier (drums).

Former members Dennis Elliott (drums), Al Greenwood (keyboards), Ian McDonald (guitar) and Rick Wills (bass) will also perform in Atlantic City.

Foreigner first presented “Double Vision: Then and Now” shows last year, and documented them on a CD/DVD release of that name.
