Southside Johnny’s old friend, E Street Band bassist Garry Tallent, has been added as an opening act for his concert with the Asbury Jukes at the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, July 6. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.com.
Tallent will perform with The Delevantes (formerly Jersey-based brothers Mike and Bob Delevante) at 5 p.m., with Remember Jones and then Southside following on the outdoor Summer Stage. The Pony itself will open at 4 p.m. with a set by Springsteen cover band Promised Land, and will also be open after Southside is done playing, with the Eddie Testa Band taking the stage at 10:30 p.m.
Tallent plans to release a new album on July 12. Its first single, “More Like Me,” can be heard below.
Southside Johnny’s other local appearances include a set with keyboardist Jeff Kazee at the Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum on June 27, in conjunction with the museum’s exhibition of rock photography by Bob Gruen; and a performance with The Jukes at the Rock, Ribs & Ridges at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, June 30.
This is the first appearance that Tallent has announced in conjunction with his new album.
