Gov’t Mule will bring its Dark Side of the Mule Tour to Atlantic City and Holmdel.

Coinciding with the 50th anniversary, this year, of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon album, Gov’t Mule will play Pink Floyd songs and more on its Dark Side of the Mule Tour, coming to the Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, July 22, and the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, Aug. 19. Coincidentally, the New Jersey dates will represent the opening and closing nights of the 13-date tour.

Drummer Jason Bonham will open the shows with his “Led Zeppelin Evening” set, featuring the music of his late father John Bonham’s band.

Tickets go on sale for Atlantic City at 10 a.m. March 10, with pre-sales beginning March 8 at 10 a.m.; visit ticketmaster.com. Holmdel tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. March 10 with pre-sales starting March 7 at 10 a.m., also through ticketmaster.com.

Gov’t Mule previously presented “Dark Side of the Mule” shows in 2008 and 2014, performing songs from various Pink Floyd albums (not just Dark Side of the Moon). On this summer’s tour, they will perform a set of their own songs, then a set of Pink Floyd covers.

“This all started so organically with what we thought would be a one-time Halloween performance,” said Gov’t Mule frontman Warren Haynes in a press release. “Since then, Dark Side of the Mule has grown into something else. It’s a blast to perform this material but our intent is to do it for one final tour in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Dark Side.”

Haynes is joined in the band by drummer Matt Abts, keyboardist and guitarist Danny Louis, and bassist Jorgen Carlsson.
