‘Minor health issue’ forces postponement of Jersey-bound Nesmith/Dolenz tour

The Count Basie Center for the Arts had been scheduled to present a show by Mike Nesmith and Micky Dolenz of The Monkees, June 25.

Mike Nesmith and Micky Dolenz of The Monkees — touring together for the first time without any other Monkees members — have postponed several concert dates, including scheduled for at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, June 25.

According to a message posted today on The Monkees’ Facebook page:

“Michael Nesmith had a minor health issue today in advance of his tour date in Philadelphia tonight. He visited a local medical facility and, although the issue was not serious, was advised to rest for the next week, so unfortunately the remaining four dates on The Monkees Present: The Mike & Micky Show tour have been postponed until a later date. Nesmith has been dismissed from the hospital and is traveling back to his home in Carmel Valley. He is in good spirits and thanks all the fans for their support and understanding. He looks forward to getting back on the stage again soon.”

In addition to the concerts that had been scheduled for the Basie and the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Pa. (near Philadelphia), a show had been scheduled for the Beacon Theatre in New York, June 22.

No new dates have been announced yet.

The Red Bank show was part of the Little Steven’s Underground Garage at the Basie series, and was to be be hosted by Steven Van Zandt.
