‘Hoboken Lullabye,’ Gregg Cagno

GREGG CAGNO

Gregg Cagno’s “Hoboken Lullabye” is a very pretty song with the added bonus of a good joke in the recording of it below, which is from Cagno’s 1997 album Tales From Sixth and Clinton. (Yes, those are the names of two Hoboken streets).

The humorous twist starts about one minute in. I’m betting just about any Hobokenite or former Hobokenite (and I’m one of those myself) will relate to it.

This is Cagno’s second time on the 350 Jersey Songs list; he also made it for his more purely sentimental “Clinton Times,” about his original Hunterdon County hometown.

New Jersey celebrated its 350th birthday in 2014. And in the 350 Jersey Songs series, we marked the occasion by posting 350 songs — one a day, from September 2014 to September 2015 — that have something to do with the state, its musical history, or both.
