Hollis Brown will play The Velvet Underground’s “Loaded” album in its entirety in Red Bank, Feb. 19.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of The Velvet Underground’s Loaded album, released in November 1970, the New York-based band Hollis Brown will play it in its entirety in a socially distanced show at The Vogel at The Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. The band will play its original songs in the first set, and Loaded in the second.

Tickets go on sale Dec. 23 at 10 a.m.; visit Ticketmaster.com.

Loaded contains two of The Velvet Underground’s best known songs, “Sweet Jane” and “Rock & Roll,” as well as gems such as “Who Loves the Sun,” “New Age” and “Oh! Sweet Nuthin’.” The influential Lou Reed-led band went on to record one more album without any original members, but Loaded is generally viewed as the group’s real swan song.

In 2014, Hollis Brown released their version of Loaded as a limited-edition Record Store Day release, but the Basie show and others planned for other East Coast venues in 2021 will represent its first Loaded tour.

“When we were starting out,” says Hollis Brown’s Mike Montali on the Basie web site, “Loaded was an album that showed us how to write songs, and also how to capture a no-frills energy in our sound. It will be the first time we are performing this show in its entirety, and we can’t wait to hit the stages.”

Here is the band’s version of “Rock & Roll”:
