The Blues Beatles have shows coming up in Long Branch and Blairstown.
The Brazilian band Blues Beatles, who have found ways to energetically reinvent Fab Four songs with classic blues arrangements, have two New Jersey shows this week. Watch them play “Yesterday,” “Can’t Buy Me Love” and “Ticket to Ride” in the videos below.
The band will headline the free Long Branch Jazz and Blues Festival, Aug. 23, with a set at 7:30 p.m. at Long Branch’s Great Lawn (the festival will begins at 1 p.m. and also feature Peter Karp and others); and also will perform at Roy’s Hall in Blairstown, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. Visit jsjbf.org for Long Branch, royshall.org for Blairstown.
The shows are part of a United States tour that also will include stops at The Sellersville Theater in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, Aug. 21; and The Iridium in New York, Aug. 22.
The group formed in 2013. Its YouTube videos shown below — as well as others, of songs such as “A Hard Day’s Night,” “Love Me Do” and “You Can’t Do That” — have received hundreds of thousands of views, apiece.
John Lennon once said, “The blues is a chair, not a design for a chair, or a better chair … it is the first chair. It is a chair for sitting on, not a chair for looking at or being appreciated. You sit on that music.”
