The event — featuring Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Tony Bennett and others — raised $5.9 for the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund, which supports those affected by the coronavirus crisis in a number of ways. Since being launched last month, the fund has raised $26.6 million, and can still be supported through donations on its web site.
Other participants in “Jersey 4 Jersey” included Patti Scialfa (who performed with Springsteen), members of Fountains of Wayne (who reunited in tribute to their late bandmate Adam Schlesinger) with Sharon Van Etten, Charlie Puth, SZA and Halsey, and segments were introduced by Jon Stewart, Whoopi Goldberg, Kelly Ripa, Stephen Colbert, Chris Rock, Danny DeVito, Chelsea Handler, Saquon Barkley and New Jersey’s First Lady, Tammy Murphy.
“We pulled together an amazing Jersey event in a very short time,” said Murphy, who founded NJPRF, in a press relief. “The talent we assembled was world class and completely committed to helping the people of New Jersey. With this in mind, the real thanks goes to our essential workers and, in turn, to the massive audience who watched and generously donated to help those impacted by this pandemic.”
