Joyce Carol Oates, Richard Thompson, Sigrid Nunez and Dani Shapiro will be among the participants in the third annual Montclair Literary Festival, taking place March 21-24 at various Montclair venues.
Oates recently released a novel, “Hazards of Time Travel,” and her next book, a collection of short stories, will be out in February.
Thompson will appear at an event with fellow singer-songwriters Zara Phillips and Warren Zanes, who are both Montclair residents. According to the festival’s Facebook page, the three “will take turns reading from their written work and, then, performing a few of their songs.” Phillips has written an autobiographical book, “Somebody’s Daughter: A Moving Journey of Discovery, Recovery and Adoption,” and Zanes wrote the bestselling “Petty: The Biography,” about Tom Petty. Thompson will be reading from “Beeswing,” a memoir of his life and career from 1967 to 1974, to be published in spring 2020.
Other authors confirmed for the festival include David Ebershoff, Brad Parks, Rachel Swarns, Sergio De La Pava, Gayle Forman, Tressie McMillan Cottom, Mark Oshiro, Wayétu Moore, Jonathan Santlofer, Maria McFarland Sánchez-Moreno, Esther Friesner, Sam Graham-Felsen, Lisa Gornick, Estep Nagy, Sarah Weinman, Craig Unger, Fiona Davis, Nathan Englander, Nina Khrushcheva and Sara Farizan.
