Mark A. Wright will present his show, The King Sings the Boss, at at least two Light of Day concerts in January.

The 2018 Light of Day festival has lots of familiar names on its schedule, and at least one new one: An act titled The King Sings the Boss, which is just what it sounds like.

In other words, an Elvis impersonator will sing Springsteen songs as Elvis himself might have done. You can watch clips of his work below.

Mark A. Wright, a British singer-songwriter and Elvis impersonator, is the man behind The King Sings the Boss. Springsteen aficionados may recognize him for having contributed his version of “Two Hearts,” under his own name, to the 2003 compilation, Light of Day: A Tribute to Bruce Springsteen.

He conceived The King Sings the Boss in 2008 and first performed it 2009, the night before a Springsteen appearance at London’s Hyde Park. “I’ve been putting on my show, following on from Bruce’s, every time he’s been on tour,” Wright said in a Facebook comment. “I can’t wait to bring it Stateside. It’s a lot of fun and I hope people enjoy it.”

The King Sings the Boss is slated to perform at the “Light of Day New York” concert at the Cutting Room, Jan. 10, and the “Kick Off” concert at the House of Independents in Asbury Park, Jan. 11. Complete lineup for all Light of Day shows have not been released, though, so it’s possible he will make more appearances.

Presley, of course, was one of Springsteen’s main influences, and Springsteen has covered many of his songs. Presley never covered any Springsteen songs; Springsteen has said he sent Presley a demo of “Fire,” hoping that he would record it, but that Presley died before it arrived.
