Lady Gaga sings Woody Guthrie and Phil Ochs covers at DNC event in Camden (with videos)



Hillary Clinton supporter Lady Gaga is not currently on tour, but made it to Camden on Thursday afternoon to perform for Democratic National Convention attendees at “Camden Rising,” a private concert at the BB&T Pavilion. Lenny Kravitz and DJ Jazzy Jeff also performed at the event.

Sen. Cory Booker introduced Gaga, and her set included covers of songs by folk music icons Woody Guthrie (“This Land Is Your Land”) and Phil Ochs (“The War Is Over”) as well as The Beatles’ “Come Together,” Neil Young’s “Old Man,” Sonny Bono’s “Bang Bang (I Shot My Baby Down),” Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile” and Édith Piaf’s “La Vie en Rose,” according to a review by Philadelphia Inquirer music critic Dan DeLuca that was posted on She also performed several of her own hits.

The convention took place across the river, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Gaga tweeted out a message Thursday night saying, “We are so much stronger together. #DNC #StrongerTogether #Vote.”

Last month, she tweeted out a message saying: “#HILLARY2016 VOTE for the 1st female US president in history. This country could use a little rock n’ roll.”
