The Last Waltz 40 Tour comes to the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, Jan. 27.

In April, the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans presented two nights of music from The Last Waltz — The Band’s 1976 farewell concert, which featured guests such as Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Eric Clapton — as part of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. The event went so well that The Last Waltz 40 Tour, billed as “A Celebration of the 40th Anniversary of The Last Waltz,” has been scheduled, with 11 dates scheduled, and more legs possible.

The first leg will include one New Jersey show, Jan. 27 at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank.

The lineup for New Jersey will include Warren Haynes, Michael McDonald, John Medeski, Don Was, George Porter of The Meters, Dave Malone of The Radiators, Terrence Higgins of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and Mark Mullins of Bonerama, and Allen Toussaint’s original horn arrangements will be used.

Jamey Johnson is doing most of the tour, but won’t be at the Jan. 27 show, according to the tour’s web site, blackbirdpresents.com/the-last-waltz-40-tour.

” ‘The Last Waltz’ is one of the greatest rock music moments in history,” Haynes told RollingStone.com. “When we did it in New Orleans, it was so much fun. We were able to honor what came before and still come up with a different take on the original with a very unique blend of musical personalities.”

Count Basie Theatre tickets are $50 to $175, and go on sale Nov. 19 at 10 a.m.; visit thebasie.org.

Here are videos of McDonald singing Young’s “Helpless” and Haynes singing The Band’s “Ophelia,” at the Saenger Theatre:
