Lauryn Hill and Mary J. Blige made guest appearances at The Wu-Tang Clan’s July 17 concert at The Prudential Center in Newark; you can watch videos of their performances on “Killing Me Softly” and “I’ll Be There for You/You’re All I Need to Get By,” respectively, below.
On “Killing Me Softly,” Hill changed the line “killing me softly with his song” to “killing us softly with their songs,” in tribute to the members of The Wu-Tang Clan.
The Wu-Tang Clan’s current tour, featuring opening act Run the Jewels, is called Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber.
Co-founder RZA said in a press release: “This is a special moment for me and all my Wu brothers to run around the globe together one more time and spread the Wu swag, music, and culture. Most importantly to touch our fans and those who have supported us throughout the years. On this tour we’re playing songs we’ve never played before to our audience and me and our production team have designed a Wu-Tang show unlike anything you’ve ever seen.”
The tour is scheduled to end on July 18, at The Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia; visit ticketmaster.com.
