Foreigner will perform at The Wellmont Theater in Montclair, Dec. 11-12.
Lou Gramm, Foreigner’s lead vocalist in its ’70s and ’80s heyday, has not been a full-time member since 2003. But he will appear with the band — “guesting on some of the songs he helped create,” according to a press release — on a December tour of the Northeast that will include two nights at The Wellmont Theater in Montclair, Dec. 11-12. Tickets will go on sale July 11 at 10 a.m.; visit ticketmaster.com.
Foreigner’s lineup for these shows will be singer-guitarist Luis Maldonado, bassist Jeff Pilson, keyboardist Michael Bluestein, guitarist Bruce Watson and drummer Chris Frazier. Guitarist Mick Jones, who co-founded Foreigner in 1976, is still considered a group member but no longer tours.
Kelly Hansen, Foreigner’s lead singer for the last 20 years, has announced that the current, summer tour, will be his last. Maldonado, who has played guitar and bass in the band since 2021, will take over on lead vocals.
The band is planning to release a deluxe edition of its 1981 album 4 — which included the hits “Urgent,” “Waiting for a Girl Like You” and “Juke Box Hero” — on Sept. 12. The package will include outtakes, alternate versions of album tracks, “instrumental rough mixes” and concert recordings.
Oct. 10-11, the band will perform at Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Atlantic City. For those keeping a scorecard: These shows will be the last two of the group’s summer tour, so they will feature Hansen. But not Gramm.
