The much-talked-about 10-part documentary, “Making a Murderer,” which has been available on Netflix since December, will be the subject of a March 31 event at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank. Titled “A Conversation on ‘Making a Murderer,’ ” the talk will feature Jerry Buting and Dean Strang, defense lawyers for Steven Avery.
Tickets, priced from $39.50 to $59.50, go on sale Jan. 29 at noon; visit thebasie.org.
Avery, who is from Manitowoc County, Wis., was wrongly convicted in a 1985 rape case (and released after serving 18 years), and was later charged with the murder of another woman. According to a press release, “the moderated discussion will cover what Buting and Strang call ‘systemic failures of the criminal justice system,’ as well as the broader implications of the Steven Avery case.”
