The annual McDonald’s Gospelfest, which missed 2020 and went virtual in 2021 and 2022 because of the pandemic, will return to a live concert setting for its 40th annual edition, May 13 (the Saturday of Mother’s Day Weekend) at the Prudential Center in Newark.

Hezekiah Walker & the Love Fellowship Choir and The Clark Sisters will be among the performers, and Cissy Houston will receive the McDonald’s Gospelfest Lifetime Achievement Award.

Tickets go on sale Jan. 17 at 10 a.m., with pre-sales (presale code: SOCIAL) starting Jan. 16 at noon; visit Ticketmaster.com.

The show — which represents New Jersey’s biggest annual gospel event as well as one of the biggest gospel events in the country — will begin with a talent competition featuring aspiring gospel performers at 5 p.m., with Walker, The Clark Sisters and other co-headliners performing later.

Those wishing to audition for the talent competition can call the show’s production company, Irving Street Rep, at (973) 643-6262 or send an email to mcdgospelfest@gmail.com.

Walker — founder and senior pastor of the Love Fellowship Tabernacle churches in Brooklyn and Bensalem, Pa. — made the first of his many GospelFest appearances in the competition segment, many years ago.
