Mickey Hart — drummer-percussionist for The Grateful Dead, Dead & Company and other groups — will show his artwork and make appearances at two New Jersey galleries in November. He’ll be at the Wentworth Gallery at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Nov. 9 at from 6 to 8 p.m., and the Wentworth Gallery at the Mall at Short Hills, Nov. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mickey Hart’s acrylic painting, “Seashore.”

Hart calls his artwork vibrational expressionism. According to his mickeyhartfineart.com website: “Expressionism is the depiction of emotional experiences through art. Music is the depiction of emotional experiences through vibration and rhythm.

“The fine art of Mickey Hart, combines the two into art that transforms the vibrations of the universe into a powerful and emotional artistic journey. Hart’s music is more than just vibration, and his art is more than just Expressionism: together they create these unique and thought provoking works of art.”

Hart also has said: “The original impetus for my work was cosmic in nature. I wanted to find out how to listen to the Sun, Earth, Moon, Saturn, and Aurora Borealis, and translate them into visuals born with vibrations.”

Dead & Company — also featuring Grateful Dead co-founders Bob Weir and Bill Kreutzmann, plus John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti — has some shows scheduled for Mexico in January, but nothing announced beyond that.
