Pedro Pascal in “Behemoth!”
This year’s Montclair Film Festival — which will take place Oct. 16-25, at various venues — has announced its Opening, Closing and Centerpiece films. The full schedule will be announced on Sept. 25, with tickets going on sale Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. (for Montclair Film members) and Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. (for the general public).

Here is a rundown on the five screenings that have been announced.
• Oct. 16, 7 p.m. at Wellmont Theater. Opening Film: “Wild Horse Nine,” black comedy action thriller about a 1973 CIA mission in Chile. Directed by Martin McDonagh, co-starring John Malkovich, Sam Rockwell, Steve Buscemi, Tom Waits and Parker Posey. (See trailer below)
• Oct. 17, 4:15 p.m. at Wellmont Theater. Animation Centerpiece: “Ray Gunn,” science fiction noir. Directed by Brad Bird, featuring voices of Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Waits and Patton Oswalt.
• Oct. 18, 7 p.m., venue TBA. Fiction Centerpiece: “Elsinore.” Based-on-a-true-story film about actor Ian Charleson, set during the time of his life in which he played Hamlet at The National Theatre in London while seriously ill with AIDS. Directed by Simon Stone, co-starring Andrew Scott and Olivia Colman.
• Oct. 23, 7:30 p.m. at Montclair Kimberley Academy Upper School. Documentary Centerpiece: “14th.” An exploration of the 14th Amendment of The United States Constitution, which concerns citizenship and equal protection. Directed by Ava DuVernay.
• Oct. 25, 6 p.m. at Montclair Kimberley Academy Upper School. Closing Film: “Behemoth!” Fictional film about the life and career of a renowned cellist. Directed by Tony Gilroy, co-starring Pedro Pascal, Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Will Arnett and Hank Azaria. (See trailer below)
