THE STANHOPE HOUSE

The Stanhope House is currently presenting music in an outside Beer Garden, but “is facing the possibility that it soon may have to pull the plug and close its doors,” according to a press release. (Of course, at some point fairly soon, outside shows won’t even be an option, because it will be too cold.)

“We have acts booked for the remainder of the month, with hopes of possibly continuing into November,” said manager Ren Giliberti in the press release. “At this time we have no intent of opening inside. Both [owner Jon Klein] and I feel there is just too much uncertainty attached with attempting that.”

(OCT. 22 UPDATE: A Nov. 1 tribute concert by the Stevie Nicks tribute band Gypsy has been added to the schedule (see below).)

The nightclub, housed in a building built in 1794 and one of Northwestern New Jersey’s most important music venues since the 1970s, bills itself as “The Last Great American Roadhouse.” Gilberti said it will try to reinvent itself by booking out its indoor space to bands (to record or film) and/or selling take-out food and drinks.

It also has started a GoFundMe page, through which patrons can support it; visit gofundme.com/f/support-a-legend.
