A peek inside Max Weinberg’s Jukebox

The New Jersey debut of E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg‘s new show, titled Max Weinberg’s Jukebox, takes place at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, Aug. 30. I reviewed the show at the City Winery in New York, last month. The way it basically worked was that Weinberg performed with three members of The Weeklings: Bob Burger and John Merjave (both on guitar and vocals) and Glen Burtnik (on bass and vocals). Songs in the band’s “Jukebox” scrolled on the nightclub’s video screens; audience members looked them over and shouted out their requests. Some requests were honored, but there obviously wasn’t enough time to do them all.

Below is an embedded video of the scroll that Weinberg has been using. And, under that, a list of all the songs in alphabetical order, by artist.

As you can see, there are a lot of Beatles songs on the list. The Rolling Stones and Weinberg’s longtime boss, Bruce Springsteen, are also well represented, as are The Monkees and The Who.

I had the most wonderful time at Tanner park last night. Max was a most gracious host and very accomidating to his audience . I wanted so badly to have him sign my vest which I have signed by 2 e street members so far. Hope to have Bruce and Patty sign at broadway show. Anyway my only disappointment was that he wouldn’t sign. The opportunity will probably never come around again, and I already will never have Danny or the big mans signature. Nevertheless if the opportunity comes around to see Max and his band, jump on it, you will not be disappointed. Thanks for a great night .
