Jackson Browne will perform at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, Sept. 21

The Laid Back Festival, created by the late Gregg Allman, will continue without him, with three shows this year, including one at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, Sept 21 at 5:30 p.m. Performers will include Jackson Browne, Little Steven Van Zandt and his Disciples of Soul, Peter Wolf and Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band, featuring Allman Brothers Band drummer Jaimoe.

There will also be shows in Hartford, Sept. 23, and Wantagh, N.Y., Sept. 24, with different lineups. The shows are being promoted as being “in the spirit of” Allman.

Pre-sales begin June 13, with the general on-sale June 16 at 10 a.m. For information, visit LaidBackFestival.com.

Little Steven is only playing in New Jersey. Steve Winwood is also on the bill in Hartford and Wantagh, and Garland Jeffreys and Scott Sharrard (who was the guitarist and musical director in the Gregg Allman Band) will perform in Wantagh only.

The name of the festival is derived from the title of Allman’s 1973 debut solo album.

Here is a video of Browne and Van Zandt performing Van Zandt’s “I Am a Patriot” together, in 2004.
