John Densmore, one of two surviving members of The Doors, will make a rare public appearance at the Asbury Park Music and Film Festival, participating in a panel discussion after the world premiere of the documentary, “Break on Thru: A Celebration of Ray Manzarek and The Doors.” The screening will be at House of Independents at 12:45 p.m. April 28.

Doors keyboardist Manzarek died in 2013, at 74.

Densmore, 73, will be joined by the film’s director, Justin Kreutzmann (son of Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann), Doors manager Jeff Jampol and others.

The Doors performed at Convention Hall in Asbury Park in September 1967 and August 1968, and the film contains footage from one of those shows. “I’m very excited to return to the land of Bruce, where The Doors played in the early days,” said Densmore, in a press release. “I’m also very excited and proud of the film tribute to Ray that is world premiering at the festival.”
