The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will present shows at its Thomas H. Kean Theatre Factory this summer.
The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey has announced plans to present live theater this summer, on the lawn of its Thomas H. Kean Theatre Factory in Florham Park. Audience and staff members will be required to wear masks, and the eight actors “have been isolated together in company housing since the pandemic began,” according to a press release.
Two productions will alternate. One will be “Verily, Madly Thine,” a collection of Shakespeare’s “wittiest and silliest love scenes,” according to the press release.” The other production will be a double bill of Edna St. Vincent Millay’s “Aria de Capo” and a new translation of Molière’s “The Love Doctor.”
Up to five people will be seated with each other in a series of eight-foot diameter areas, and each seating area will be six feet apart from the other seating areas.
The Thomas H. Kean Theatre Factory is the Shakespeare Theatre’s education, production and administrative center.
The theater presents outdoors shows in Morristown and indoor shows in Madison every year, but its usual stages are currently closed because of the pandemic.
This is the performance schedule:
July 30-31 and Aug. 2, 8-9, 14 and 16: “Aria da Capo” and “The Love Doctor.”
Aug. 1-2 and 6-7, 9, 13 and 15: “Verily, Madly Thine.”
