The Smashing Pumpkins have added a New Jersey show to their Shiny and Oh So Bright reunion tour, Aug. 2 at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel. According to a press release, it will be “a special 30th anniversary performance” with “special guests, a career-spanning set list, never before seen production, and more surprises.”
Metric will open, and tickets go on sale June 1 at 10 a.m., with pre-sales beginning May 30 at 10 a.m.; visit livenation.com.
The tour celebrates the 30th anniversary of the influential alternative-rock group, and features co-founders Billy Corgan (guitar, vocals), Jimmy Chamberlin (drums) and James Iha (guitar), along with Jeff Schroeder (guitar), Jack Bates (bass) and Katie Cole (keyboards).
Other area dates, all already on sale, include the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, July 28; the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., July 29; and Madison Square Garden in New York, Aug. 1.
The last album released under the Smashing Pumpkins name was Monuments to an Elegy, featuring Corgan and Schroeder, in 2014.
