Snoop Dogg and Tamar Braxton will co-star in “Redemption of a Dogg” at NJPAC.

A touring production of “Redemption of a Dogg” — a new play starring rapper Snoop Dogg, and featuring his music — will stop at NJPAC in Newark, Oct. 11, with tickets going on sale Aug. 10 at 10 a.m. (and pre-sales starting Aug. 9 at 10 a.m.). Visit ticketmaster.com.

Tamar Braxton will co-star in the play, which was written and directed Je’Caryous Johnson; Johnson’s previous plays include “Set It Off,” a stage adaptation of the 1996 film.

According to a press release, “Redemption of a Dogg” tells the story “of one man’s journey to preserve his lifelong legacy by choosing fame and fortune over faith and family. When he is forced to face the true consequences of gaining the world, he fights to redeem himself before losing his love, his family, and ultimately, his soul.”

Snoop Dogg is mainly known as a musician, of course, but has also done a lot of acting — mostly in small roles — over the years, in films and on television.
