“The Sopranos” — the landmark Jersey-set HBO series that is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year — will be celebrated at SopranosCon, taking place Nov. 23-24 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus.
According to the event’s website, SopranosCon.com, it will be “an interactive, street festival themed fan experience, visually inspired by The Feast of St Elzéar, celebrating the series by showcasing Italian culture in New Jersey with food, drink, art, music, comedy, and some show-related businesses. There will be fan art galleries, exhibits, screenings, Q&A’s, trivia and costume contests, interactive games, and much more.”
According to Wikipedia, the Feast of St. Elzéar, featured in an episode of the sixth season of “The Sopranos,” is fictional but based on annual Feast of St. Gerard, which takes place every year in Newark.
According to the web site, more than 20 cast members are confirmed to appear, including Tony Sirico (Paulie Walnuts), Vincent Pastore (Big Pussy), Dominic Chianese (Junior), Federico Castelluccio (Furio), Vincent Curatola (Johnny Sack), David Proval (Richie Aprile), Dan Grimaldi (Patsy Parisi), Al Sapienza (Mikey Palmice), Joseph Badalucco Jr. (Jimmy Altieri) and Artie Pasquale (Burt Gervasi).
Musicians Sunflower Bean, Chris Webby and Skrizzly Adams are also listed as participants, as are Alan Sepinwall and Matt Zoller Seitz, former Star-Ledger television writers and co-authors of the book, “The Sopranos Sessions.”
