Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes will perform at The Stone Pony Summer Stage on Aug. 31.

Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes will perform at The Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park on Aug. 31 — that’s the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend — in a show that is being billed as “celebrating the 1976 radio show, in honor of The Stone Pony 50th anniversary.”

Tickets will go on sale July 3 at 10 a.m.; visit ticketmaster.com.

LaBamba & the Hubcaps will open at 6 p.m., with the Jukes taking the stage at 8 p.m.

The radio show being referred to is the legendary May 30, 1976 Jukes concert that was a record release party for their debut album, I Don’t Want to Go Home; featured guest appearances by Bruce Springsteen and others; and was broadcast on radio stations throughout the Northeast.

On Facebook, The Stone Pony called it “one of the most memorable shows in the history of the Pony.”

Here is some great footage from the 1976 event:
