Bruce Springsteen will release “Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition” on Oct. 17.
(UPDATE: Because the release date of the boxed set has been moved to Oct. 24, this event has been cancelled.)
In advance of the Oct. 17 release of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition boxed set, The Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music at Monmouth University in West Long Branch will present a free listening and viewing session, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at the university’s Pollak Theatre.
Disk jockeys and Springsteen experts Tom Cunningham and Rich Russo will co-host, with Erik Flannigan, who wrote an essay for the boxed set as well as the liner notes for Springsteen’s recent Tracks 2: The Lost Albums boxed set, joining them.
The boxed set includes a remastered version of Springsteen’s 1982 Nebraska album; outtakes, demos and alternate takes; and a film and recording of Springsteen performing the album in its entirety at The Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, earlier this year.
The program has not been announced for Oct. 15 but it would definitely be possible to play all of the outtakes, demos and alternate takes, and screen the film in one night.
(Note: I will post my review of the boxed set on Oct. 10. HERE is Stephen Whitty’s review of the biopic “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere,” which will be released on Oct. 24.)
