Springsteen in Detroit: ‘Darkness on the Edge of Town’ makes tour debut (WATCH VIDEO)

Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band performed in Detroit, March 29.

One of Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band’s signature songs, “Darkness on the Edge of Town,” was played for the first time on the group’s current tour at their March 29 concert at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. You can watch it below.

In his 2016 autobiography “Born to Run,” Springsteen wrote that “Darkness on the Edge of Town” is a song that “proposes that the setting for personal transformation is often found at the end of your rope.” He also wrote that in the song’s final verse — the one starting with “Tonight I’ll be on that hill” — “my characters stand unsure of their fate but dug in and committed.”

Upcoming New Jersey area shows for Springsteen and the band include Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, April 1; the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, April 3; the UBS Arena at Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y., April 9 and 11; the Prudential Center in Newark, April 14; and MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, Aug. 30 and Sept. 1 and 3.
