Bruce Springsteen will release “Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition” in October.
Bruce Springsteen has released a new, live version of “Open All Night” from his upcoming five-disc boxed set, Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition. The song was recorded in April of this year at The Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, as part of a private session in which Springsteen performed all the songs from his legendary 1982 Nebraska album.
Video and audio of all these songs will be included in the boxed set. You can watch the clip of “Open All Night,” in which a seated Springsteen accompanies himself on electric guitar, below.
The boxed set will also include never-before-released electric versions of the Nebraska songs, and other outtakes. Its release, on Oct. 17, will precede, by a week, the release of the “Deliver Me From Nowhere” film, a biopic focusing on Springsteen during the time in which he recorded the album.
Springsteen has said, about the Basie performances this year, “I think in playing these songs again to be filmed, their weight impressed upon me. I’ve written a lot of other narrative records, but there’s just something about that batch of songs on Nebraska that holds some sort of magic.”
