It’s one of those amazing finds that pops up on YouTube every once in a while. Yesterday (March 3), the Live Concert Archive YouTube site posted Bruce Springsteen’s 55-minute set at the Alliance of Neighbors benefit concert that took place at the Count Basie Theatre (now known as the Count Basie Center for the Arts) in Red Bank on Oct. 19, 2001.

It’s not the whole concert, just Springsteen’s set. But it includes rare collaborations with Joan Jett, Joe Ely and Sonny Burgess, as well as an all-star finale version of “Stand by Me” featuring lead vocals by (in this order) Springsteen, Felix Cavaliere of The Rascals, Ely, Phoebe Snow, Pat DiNizio of The Smithereens, and Peter Scherer of Highway 9. Other contributors to this song and other numbers seen on this video include E Street Band members Garry Tallent (the show’s music director), Max Weinberg and Patti Scialfa; future E Street Band touring member Michelle Moore; David Bryan of Bon Jovi; Dennis Diken of The Smithereens; and Gordon Brown of Highway 9 (and currently of Williams Honor).

These are the songs featured in the video:

“Tiger Rose” (with Sonny Burgess and the Sun Rhythm Section)
“We Wanna Boogie” (with Sonny Burgess and the Sun Rhythm Section)
“All Just to Get to You” (with Joe Ely)
“Light of Day” (with Joan Jett)
“Bobby Jean”
“My City of Ruins”
“Land of Hope and Dreams”
“Thunder Road”
“Stand by Me” (grand finale)

This concert, as well as one the previous night at the same theater, raised money for the Alliance of Neighbors of Monmouth County. The organization was formed to provide support for families of victims of the 9/11 terrorist attack.
