Montclair Film’s “Glitter Ball” fundraiser just got more glittery, with the addition of Stephen Colbert to the lineup.

The event – subtitled “A Dance Floor Celebration of Soul, R&B, and Funk” and scheduled to take place at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair on March 2 — will also feature performances by actor Patrick Wilson and musician-author Warren Zanes, with Joe McGinty & the Loser’s Lounge serving as the house band.

This is the same lineup that graced Montclair Film’s ” ’70s Mixtape” gala last year, and its 1980s Dance Party in 2017. Colbert sang Cheap Trick’s “I Want You to Want Me” (see video below) and Mungo Jerry’s “In the Summertime” (with Jon Batiste) at the former, and Talking Heads’ “Once in a Lifetime” at the latter.

Proceeds from the benefit will support Montclair Film’s year-round film and education programs.

For tickets, visit montclairfilm.org.

Colbert, a Montclair resident (as are Wilson and Zanes), is on the advisory board of Montclair Film, and his wife Evelyn is the president of its board of trustees.

This year’s Montclair Film festival takes place May 3-12.
