Stephen Colbert, Steven Van Zandt among NJ Hall of Fame nominees

by JAY LUSTIG

STEPHEN COLBERT

Stephen Colbert, Steven Van Zandt, Stephen Crane and Steve Forbes are among the nominees for the New Jersey Hall of Fame’s class of 2018. According to the Hall, the winner in each category, as voted by the public, is guaranteed induction.

The inductees will be announced in December, and the ceremony will take place in May.

The inclusion of Van Zandt seems a little odd, since The E Street Band was chosen for induction five years ago (Bruce Springsteen was inducted separately). Similarly, The Four Seasons have been nominated, even though Frankie Valli is already in, on his own.

Meanwhile, New Jersey artists such as Southside Johnny and The Smithereens remain unnominated. As well as people such as “Uncle Floyd” Vivino, George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic, Lauryn Hill, James Moody, John Pizzarelli, Patti Smith, John Scher, Debbie Harry, Lesley Gore, The Isley Brothers, Kevin Smith and The Rascals.

Anyway, here are the nominees. You can vote for one person per category:

Stephen Colbert is most deserving of this award. His humour , his integrity , his deep caring of the human race and sincere desire to educate and uplift people should be applauded and recognized.
