Steven Van Zandt and his Disciples of Souls will perform in Red Bank, April 18.

On April 18 — four days after Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band conclude the current leg of their 2023 tour with a show at the Prudential Center in Newark — Steven Van Zandt will lead his own Disciples of Soul band in a concert at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank. Tickets go on sale March 31 at 10 a.m., with a pre-sale for Basie members beginning March 28 at 10 a.m.; visit ticketmaster.com.

(MARCH 31 UPDATE: A second show has now been added, for April 19.)

According to a press release, Van Zandt and the band will be “reinventing songs from his two most recent LPs, 2017’s Soulfire and 2019’s acclaimed Summer of Sorcery, as well as fan favorites spanning his iconic career, with newly updated live arrangements. The performance will be captured for a new concert film to be released later this year.”

The show will be titled “Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul present SORCERY & SOULFIRE Live! At the Basie!”

Van Zandt and the Disciples of Soul have not presented a concert since before the pandemic began.

The group, with guitarist Marc Ribler serving as music director, also will serve as the house band at The Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music’s American Music Honors presentation, April 15 at the Pollak Theatre at Monmouth University in West Long Branch. Van Zandt will be honored along with Sam Moore, Darlene Love and Steve Earle, with Jon Stewart hosting, and award presenters including Bruce Springsteen, Patti Scialfa, Garry Tallent and Southside Johnny.
