Low Cut Connie has released a remix of “Are You Gonna Run?,” featuring Steven Van Zandt.

Low Cut Connie has released a new version of their song “Are You Gonna Run?,” with gritty, atmospheric guitar and vocal contributions by Steven Van Zandt. You can listen to the remix below.

“2 Jersey guys got together to work on a tune. … He sings and plays along with us and it sounds fantastic,” wrote Low Cut Connie’s Adam Weiner on Facebook, on May 21.

He added in a press release: “Stevie heard the song last year when it came out and flipped. He asked to do a remix with his voice and guitar added to give it some extra E Street vibes. His additions are really soulful. It’s been an absolutely killer collaboration.”

Low Cut Connie released the original version of “Are You Gonna Run?” as the lead single of their Art Dealers album. You can listen to the original below, as well.

Weiner told the Philadelphia radio station WXPN, last year, that the song was inspired by Ronettes lead singer Ronnie Spector (who died in January 2022).

“I’ve been doing this little slow walk from writing about women and trying to put my eyeballs in their heads to get a sense of what it is to walk around every day in America and survive and be a strong woman in this country,” Weiner said. “And then I sort of kept walking a little further during the pandemic and I just started writing from a more gender-free perspective, so I’m singing a lot of these songs from the perspective of the female.

“There’s a lot of songs like that on the (‘Art Dealers’) record, and for this particular song, I had Ronnie Spector in mind. I really wanted to get this song to Ronnie Spector. Unfortunately we didn’t get there in time. So I did my best to sing it myself.”
