Steven Van Zandt and Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes will have a reunion, of sorts, Nov. 23 at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York.
The event is a gala for Van Zandt’s Rock and Roll Forever Foundation, at which Van Zandt himself will be honored. Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes are scheduled to perform. Van Zandt is NOT confirmed to make a musical appearance with the Jukes, but given his history with them, it’s hard to imagine that not happening for at least a song or two.
Drew Carey will host the event, and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy will present Van Zandt with his award.
Proceeds will benefit TeachRock, the foundation’s free, national K-12 curriculum initiative. TeachRock lesson plans are used by more than 20,000 teachers, nationally, according to the foundation.
The event will begin with a cocktail reception and silent auction at 6 p.m., followed by a dinner and live auction at 7, and the music at 8.
Tickets are $350; visit teachrock.org/2019gala or ticketweb.com.
Van Zandt is also scheduled to perform with his Disciples of Soul band at the Beacon Theatre in New York, Nov. 6. For tickets to that show, visit ticketmaster.com
