JOHN RZEZNIK

John Rzeznik of The Goo Goo Dolls, a Buffalo native who now lives in Westfield, is lending a hand with Westfield’s “Be the Light” program, which is raising money for the Westfield Food Pantry and the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.

Nov. 29 at 6 p.m., Rzeznik will perform songs from The Goo Goo Dolls’ new holiday album, It’s Christmas All Over, in a livestream on the town’s Facebook page.

Also, an online auction will begin at 7 p.m. Nov. 29 and run through midnight Dec. 18 at one.bidpal.net/westfieldholidayhungerdrive2020. Items will include a socially distanced backyard performance by Rzeznik for up to 30 people, within Union County or 30 minutes from Westfield; Rzeznik’s signed guitar from his Nov. 29 performance; and 50 autographed copies of It’s Christmas All Over. Also, donations will be accepted, and those donating $25 or more will be entered in a raffle to win an autographed, limited edition, Goo Goo Dolls-model Crosley turntable.

“This holiday season is going to be difficult for many families here in New Jersey, and I’m glad to be able to help raise awareness about hunger in the region,” said Rzeznik in a press release. “My hope is that we can make a real difference as a community by getting involved with this cause to provide help where it’s most needed.”

It’s Christmas All Over includes original material as well as covers of songs such as “Let It Snow,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and Tom Petty’s “Christmas All Over Again.”
