Many women have covered songs written by Bruce Springsteen, and there are many cover bands paying tribute to Springsteen and his E Street Band. But now, for the first time, there is an all-female Springsteen tribute band.

“We talked about a dream and tried to make it real. Thanks everyone for coming out & supporting our debut gig! Baby, y’all were born to run,” tweeted the London-based sextet, The She Street Band, after performing its first concert, April 29 at London’s Moth Club.

According to a press release, the group is made up of musicians who have played in groups such as Joe Innes & the Cavalcade and Marine Store Dealer, and donated proceeds from the debut show to ACLU and Planned Parenthood.

According to the release:

The band was formed when bassist Jody Orsborn saw Springsteen play at Wembley and was struck by how he brought so many different types of people together. “Things are quite difficult at the moment”, says Jody, an American expat. “Bruce is all about inclusiveness and fighting the good fight. If we can help to spread his message and provide a space to promote positive, inclusive deeds, we are doing the best tribute we possibly could for him!”

In Bruce’s own words. “We’re a long way from home, and our hearts and spirits are with the young women and men that marched… who rallied against hate and division, and in support of tolerance, inclusion, reproductive rights, civil rights, racial justice, LGBTQ rights, the environment, wage equality, gender equality, health care, and immigrant rights. We stand with you.”
