Surflight Theatre will reopen after two-year absence

The Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven has announced that it will reopen this summer.

The Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven, which closed in 2015, will be back this summer, with a slate of musicals ranging from “Newsies” to “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”

“Like the phoenix rising from the ashes, professional theatre is returning to Beach Haven,” reads a message on the theater’s web site, “It’s been a difficult couple of years, but thanks to unwavering support from our patrons, the Beach Haven, LBI, and Ocean County communities, and a dedicated group of theatre professionals, Surflight Theatre will once again provide quality professional theatre in the proud tradition of our founder, Joseph P. Hayes.”

According to the Asbury Park Press, the new owner is Al Parinello, a Hoboken native who has decades of experience in radio, television and concert production, and co-produced “The People in the Picture” on Broadway in 2011. Steve Steiner, formerly artistic director of the theater, will stay on as producing artistic director.

The summer schedule includes:
